SPEED RULES ON

DIRT AT MEYDAN

25% of all dirt races at the 2015 Carnival have been won from gate to wire, with another 55% of the winners coming from prominent runners.

This means that 80% of the winners were forwardly placed.

Only 4 of the 75 dirt track winners have come from off the pace, and one of these closers was Faulkner - a far superior runner who was well in at the weights in a handicap early in the season.

Mid-pack runners have also had it tough, but such horses are 5-for-25 in races over 1900 metres plus. They are 4-for-28 in sprints and 2-for-22 in mile races.
