Globeform's value bet Imprimis winning the Runhappy Sprint at Kentucky Downs. We backed him at 5-1, while SP was 5-2 and his pool odds was 3-1.

Imprimis and Outadore were our only bets on this high profile Saturday, giving us a nice 21-1 double.

Globeform Notebook horse Outadore winning the Juvenile Sprint, Kentucky Downs. Backed at 11-4 with bookmakers, he paid 8-5 on course.

Authentic, 20-1 future bet, Kentucky Derby.

Two weeks before the race, Palace Pier was recommended as a 7-1 value bet for the St. James's Palace Stakes, which he won at 4-1. He was one of only two future bets recommended for Royal Ascot, the other being Kimari each-way at 20-1. She finished second at 5-1 in the Commonwealth.

Globeform's only value bet advised for Arkansas Derby day, By My Standards at 7-1 in the Oaklawn Handicap, runs out a solid winner. The 222-1 Trifecta was also hit. Coady Photography

Filly & Mare Turf: Mean Mary in focus

MEAN MARY made likely Breeders' Cup  Filly & Mare Turf favorite Rushing Fall pull out all the stops in the 9-furlong Diana Stakes at Saratoga in August – and the extra half-furlong here should be to her advantage. A fast improving runner in the first part of the season, Graham Motion's classy filly met with defeat for the first time in 2020 when beaten a neck by Rushing Fall, who was also giving her weight. On paper, her chances of reversing the form seem slim – and perhaps they are, but it's not impossible. Mean Mary did not run up to her very best in the Diana. Her best form to date came when she ran to Globeform 119p to win the 10-furlong New York Stakes at Belmont in July. Shed made all to stroll home by 5 ¼ lengths in that event, proving way too good for My Sister Nat. The latter is no superstar, but she did go on to win the Waya Stakes next time out, before running two decent races behind Civil Union, and Mean Mary's New York form is solid. It was Mean Mary's fourth straight win. The key to her chances in the Filly & Mare Turf lies with the pace scenario. Allow her a loose lead, so she can stride out at her own tempo before gradually increasing the pace and she becomes really dangerous.

Filly & Mare Sprint: Bell's the One in focus

BELL'S THE ONE is the main reason one should not be so sure the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint race lies between Gamine and Serengeti Empress only. She fits the bill as the dangerous closer who could pick up the pieces if the early pace becomes ridiculous and leads to a meltdown inside the final furlong.

She came from a long way back when getting up in the very last stride to win the Derby City Distaff over this distance at Churchill Downs two months ago, and the early fractions can be expected to be even faster here. That would suit Bell's the One so well, and she looks a serious player in this year's Filly & Mare Sprint. True, she was receiving three pounds from Serengeti Empress when beating her by a nose in the Derby City, and she will have to meet her at level weights this time, but Bell's the One is open to further improvement, she has run well here at Keeneland before and the 7-furlong distance suits her perfectly. With high profile names in the mix, she is likely to go off at good odds again. Prior to her win in September, she had been an impressive winner of the Winning Colors in May, when she tacked 6 furlongs. She came from off the pace and blew past the smart filly Break Even to win easily going away by 3 lengths. Mia Mischief was 2 ½ lengths further adrift in third. That performance elevated Bell's the One to a new level. She had produced GF 111p when capturing the Raven Run over 7 furlongs at Keeneland last fall, and her Winning Colors run was worth Globeform 122p, while her win over Serengeti Empress returned GF 121+. In between these two wins, Neil Pessin's star finished third to Guarana in the Madison here at Keeneland (when badly compromised by a lack on pace). Bell's the One is 7-2-1 from 14 starts. At around 7-1, she is a cracking good each-way horse for those betting with the bookmakers. (Oct 28)

Breeders' Cup Classic: Improbable in focus

IMPROBABLE was deeply impressive in the Awesome Again Stakes over this distance at Santa Anita six weeks prior to the Breeders' Cup and – competitive as this is – he is the logical selection. The Bob Baffert trained son of City Zip was a highly promising juvenile back in 2018 but a bit of a 'nearly horse' in his classic season. Now aged four, Improbable has come of age, and he come here off of three straight Grade One wins; improving his Globeform rating in each of those excellent runs. He raced prominently throughout both in the Hollywood Gold Cup in June (where he beat Higher Power easily by 3 ½ lengths) and in the Whitney Stakes at Saratoga in August (a solid 2-length win over By My Standards, with Tom's d'Etat back in third place). His tactics were completely different in the Awesome Again. Jockey Drayden Van Dyke held him up well off the strong pace. Improbable was detached as the lone back marker going down the backstretch that day. He picked up strongly going around the home turn, and it was soon obvious where the winner would come from. Improbable rolled past Maximum Security and Midcourt coming down the lane – and won the valuable 9-furlong contest by 4 ½ lengths. He was certainly value for the bare margin, and he improved to Globeform 132, having returned GF 124p and GF 126p on his two preceding starts. The Awesome Again did set up perfectly for him but Improbable can be just as effective sitting closer to a moderate pace. In fact, he is the type of horse who could even set his own pace if needed, that's how versatile he has become. Improbable takes the highest rating to the table, he is sporting top class form over 9 and 10 furlongs, he has plenty of experience, and he has an excellent team in his corner. (Oct 27)
