Well Armed improved, though impossible to assess

Globeform’s Ratings Review - Dubai World Cup night 2009:

In winning the last Dubai World Cup (G1) staged at Nad Al Sheba by 14 langths, Well Armed made himself an ‘impossible horse to assess’. If chief rivals like Asiatic Boy, Albertus Maximus and Casino drive had run anywhere near their true form, this run would have been a sensational performance. They did not. That, more than the unprecedented winning margin, makes compiling a rating for Well Armed’s big win almost impossible. At best it is educated guesswork, though there is no doubt that the son of Tiznow has improved greatly in recent weeks.

Form analysis of each race, with Globeform ratings achieved by all top five finishers at Nad Al Sheba, now posted.

Golden Shaheen: Indian Blessing meets the boys

Nad Al Sheba: Local stars Big City Man, trained by Jerry Barton, and Diabolical, running the all blue Godolphin flag, are going to face tough competition from abroad in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) on Saturday.

A straight dash, so often dominated by North Americans, has this year lured California’s fastest filly Indian Blessing to Dubai, alongside fellow Grade Grade One winner Black Seventeen, French champion Marchand d’Or and the talented Japanese speedster Bamboo Ere.

Godolphin Mile: An all blue exacta likely

The sponsoring team, having landed back-to-back wins in this race with Firebreak in 2003-04, run two strong contenders in Gayego and Two Step Salsa. There is a good chance of an "all blue exacta" in the first thoroughbred race on the night.

Mike de Kock saddles the talented Lucky Find, hopefully also primed for a big run, while visiting performers like Cat Junior, representing top English trainer Brian Meehan, and Informed, shipped in by the winning trainer two years ago, Doug O’Neill, are also likely to make an impact.

Sheema Classic: Wide open turf contest

The Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) is shaping up to be an excellent race.

We can can look forward to a mouthwatering clash with the likes of Youmzain, twice runner-up in the ‘Arc’, back-to-back Hong Kong Vase (G1) winner Doctor Dino, last year’s Canadian International (G1) winner Marsh Side, Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) winner Red Rocks, the classy globetrotter Quijano, and recent course and distance winner Front House. Amongst others!

UAE Derby: Desert Party stands out

Nad Al Sheba Saturday: Godolphin may have a decent contender for the Kentucky Derby (G1) in the Street Cry son Desert Party, but if he is to make an impact at Churchill Downs he needs to win, and win well, as he meets twelve rivals in the UAE Derby (G2).

Globeform ratings show him well clear of the field.
