Dubai Carnival analyses
Archipenko in perfect prep, Jet Plane rebounds

Nad Al Sheba 26 Feb: A good day for favourites, and also a ‘mini Super Thursday’ in Dubai this week, as Archipenko made a solid come-back and set himself up for a crack at the Dubai Duty Free (G1) on World Cup night.

That particular race is shaping up to be the best on the big championship day, now just four weeks away. Archipenko will be among the favourites, as he meets the likes of Kip Deville and Vodka over 1777 metres over this smashing turf course on March 28. He was racing over 1600 in the Zabeel Mile (G3), and won well from the game five-year-old Vertigineux.

Mike de Kock saddled two winners on the night, as his classy sprinter J J The Jet Plane took the 6-furlong Al Quoz Sprint (G3) on turf, after a disappointing run on dirt two weeks ago. Devotee, so disappointing in her Guineas run, also bounced back to form, completing a double for Godolphin when taking the UAE Oaks (LR). Is she one for the Kentucky Oaks?

With these stakes winners in the limelight, one would think it hard to elevate one of the handicap winners on the night to near star status, but Luca Cumani’s Presvis was, once more, visually impressive as he won the finale and he is a very interesting turf horse.

Globeform Review: Dubai Carnival
Godolphin dominates

Race reports, with career details, form assessments and pedigree notes, posted between each race at the Dubai International Racing Carnival, where Godolphin's colt Desert Party beat his stable companion Regal Ransom in the UAE 2000 Guineas (G3). It was not the only good result for the 'boys in blue'.

UAE 1,000 Guineas: Godolphin hold the aces

Nad Al Sheba: With two lightly raced and highly talented fillies from the in-form Godolphin team in the field, the others may be happy to pick up smaller shares of the $250,000 purse in the UAE 1,000 Guineas (LR).

This Friday feature could easily be dominated by Noth American import Devotee, who was third in a Grade One last year, and South American import Sos Brilliante, a winner already at this Carnival.

Maktoum Challenge II: Asiatic Boy vs. My Indy

Dubai Thursday: The action is hotting up in the desert, with two superb days of racing at Nad Al Sheba this week. The feature event on Thursday, the Al Maktoum Challenge II (G3) over 9 furlongs on dirt, brings out Mike de Kock’s star performer Asiatic Boy for his eagerly awaited seasonal debut. Runner-up to Curlin in the Dubai World Cup (G1) last year, Asiatic Boy is pointing for that event again this spring.

He may get a tough reappearance, however, as Godolphin take him on with the fast improving and race fit colt My Indy - winner of the first round of the series.

Race by race previews and bets now posted.

Globeform Review Dubai Carnival
Silver Mist lands Al Rashiyida

Race reports, with career details, form assessments and pedigree notes, posted between each race on day three of the Dubai International Racing Carnival.

The Al Rashiyida Stakes (G3), a $200,000 contest over the same 1777 metres as the prestigious Dubai Duty Free (G1) on World Cup night in March, may have produced a contender for that race in Silver Mist, who followed up his win here two weeks ago by outbattling another previous Carnival winner, Third Set to land the spoils.
