Belmont Stakes Day 2007

Globeform's Belmont Stakes Day 2007

Welcome to Globeform's Belmont Stakes Days Special, with previews, ratings and analyses to the top races at Belmont Park and Hollywood Park on Saturday June 9.

Belmont Stakes: Curlin vs Rags to Riches

Belmont Park 9 June: It will be a small field, but this year's Belmont Stakes (G1) promises to be a fascinating race. Curlin, coming off a narrow win against Street Sense in the Preakness, renews rivalry with Hard Spun - who was back in third at Pimlico but had the upper hand at Churchill Downs.

Rags to Riches, a stylish winner of the Kentucky Oaks (G1), also joins in, and that makes this classic really interesting. A half-sister to last year's Belmont winner Jazil, and herself by a Belmont winner, A.P. Indy, she will stay the trip.

127 - CURLIN (Smart Strike) Albarado
122 - RAGS TO RICHES (A.P. Indy) Velazquez
123 - HARD SPUN (Danzig) Gomez
115 - C P WEST (Came Home) Prado
113 - TIAGO (Pleasant Tap) Smith
111 - IMAWILDANDCRAZYGUY (Wild Event) Guidry
110 – SLEW’S TIZZY (Tiznow) Bejarano

Full previews to all Belmont stakes races posted.

The Woody Stephens: Stormello in focus

He stretched his speed to wins in the Hollywood Futurity (G1) and Norfolk Stakes (G2) last year but, game as he is, Stormello was never going to make a 1 1/4-mile runner. This Saturday, he embarks on phase two of his career, as he goes sprinting in the 7-furlong Woody Stephens (G2) at Belmont Park.

The Manhattan: English Channel in focus

English Channel, unable to make an impact in the Dubai Duty Free (G1) at Nad Al Sheba in March, returns to action in the Manhattan Handicap (G1) at Belmont Park on Saturday.

The son of Smart Strike ran fourth in this event last year, and he now looks set to clash with the old warrior Better Talk Now, the in-form Cosmonaut, the ex-French Grand Couturier and last year's Belmont fourth Steppenwolfer, amongst others.
