GLOBEFORM @ DUBAI WORLD CUP DAY 2007

Welcome
to Globeform's Dubai World Cup Special - with horse bios, in-depth previews and coverage of the big day at Nad Al Sheba on March 31. Our race by race previews give you Globeform Ratings, analyses, selections and betting plans.

This section has now been pre opened - Officially our DWC Special kicks off full time from March 17 - and the price for full access over two weeks is just $34.95

Last year: 8-1, 5-1, 3-1 and 6-4 winners given (see 2006 previews below).

Dubai World Cup: Premium Tap in focus

Premium Tap - who is racing for Saudia Arabia and the USA, in the Dubai World Cup (G1) on Saturday - improved markedly last autumn, when third to Invasor in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (Gr 1) at Churchill Downs, before winning in the Clark Handicap (Gr 1) in a procession at the same venue three weeks later.

Many horses have suffered the dreaded ’bounce’ after good efforts at the Breeders’ Cup, but Premium Tap actually improved on his Classic run in the Clark, and he surely is a progressive sort – who may improve again. He enjoyed an easy win in his prep in the King's Cup (G1) last month.

Dubai World Cup: Storm Mayor in focus

A winner of 6 of his 12 lifetime starts in South America, Storm Mayor is a strong contender in a Dubai World Cup (G1) field that is small but oh so select.

This son of Bernstein last ran in December, when winning the Carlos Pellegrini (G1) for the second time at San Isidro in Argentina. He goes well fresh, and he is a true champion.

Sheema Classic: Obrigado in focus

Obrigado’s name was noted down under ’Days best performance’, ’Better still to come’ and ’Make an note of this name’ in our Santa Anita Special after the San Marcos (G2) in January. He was finishing well that day, under a tough weight for a 4yo, and checked in third behind One Off and the ex-English Notable Guest.

He reversed the form as they met again in the 12-furlong San Luis Obispo Handicap (G2) a month later – where Obrigado was a game winner. He now takes a step up in class, in the Dubai Sheema Classic (G1). Exactly where does he stand, compared to the likes of Vengeance Of Rain, Red Rocks and Sir Percy?

UAE Derby: Asiatic Boy vs. Eu Tambem, Folk...

Nad Al Sheba 31 Mar: The big 3-year-old race of the day, indeed of the whole year in Dubai, is the 9-furlong UAE Derby (G2). The race was won by Discreet Cat last year, and a running of this classic without a Godolphin runner is an ’impossible scenario’. Well, for a while they looked like not fielding one this year, but they will.

Eu Tambem, who impressed in his only start for Ismail Mohammed, has joined Saeed bin Suroor’s team – and been switched from the World Cup to the Derby, where he is set for a mouthwatering clash with 2000 Guineas winner Asiatic Boy. The 1000 Guineas and Oaks heroine Folk, who has now also joined Godolphin, adds further spice to the contest – along with the recent Argentinean G1 winner Bartola.

Full preview is now posted.

Duty Free: Daiwa Major in focus

Daiwa Major, among the top horses in Japan, won three valuable events towards the end of last season. In early October, he beat arch-rival Dance In The Mood by a neck in the Minishi Okan (G2) over 9 furlongs at Tokyo racecourse. Later in the month, he defeated Swift Current by half a length in the Tenno Sho Autumn (G1) over 10 furlongs at the same venue, when Admire Moon, Cosmo Bulk Sweep Tosho, Dance In The Moon and Asakusa Den’en filled the next placed.

All these are solid G1 performers, and Daiwa Major is a serious contender for the Dubai Duty Free (G1).
