Avoid the daylight robbers

Breeders’ Cup ’09:

Striking an early flutter on big races, called ante-post betting in Europe and future wagering in North America, can be a lot of fun, and very rewarding, for the intelligent racing fan.

But do beware, for many bookmakers have horses on their lists that are very doubtful runners – some even confirmed to bypass the Breeders’ Cup Series. There seems to be attempts at daylight robbery going on here.

BC Classic:

Colonel John
(20-1) is not sure to get into the race nd will be 20-1 or bigger on the day if he does.

Pioneerof The Nile (16-1) has been retired.

Zenyatta (6/1) could go for the Ladies Classic instead.

Well Armed (25-1) injured last start, will not be trained for the Classic.

Crowded House (25-1) has had his last run for the year, aiming for Dubai.

Musket Man (25-1) highly unlikely runner and will be around 50-1 on the day should he, miraculously, turn up.

Gladiatorus (33-1) has been confirmed for the Mile.

Most of the others listed at 25-1 or bigger are either very doubtful or on the shelf.

BC Turf:

(25-1) will not be running.

Einstein (33-1) is much more likely to go for the Classic.

Grand Couturier (25-1); trainer favours B Cup Marathon.

Crowded House (33-1) will not run again in 2009, aiming for Dubai.

BC Mile:

(4-1) is being aimed at the Classic, Mile not under consideration.

Paco Boy (12-1) was ruled out of the B Cup by connections weeks ago.

Colonel John (14/1) is being trained for the Classic, not this race, but may switch.

BC Sprint:

Fabulous Strike
(6-1) will be trained for the Fall Highweight at Aqueduct, not the Breeders’ Cup, trainer stated after his last run.

Pyro (10-1) is a dangerous bet, as his connections say he is more likely to kept to traditional dirt racing (Cigar Mile a possible target).

Fleetng Spirit (12-1) goes for the Turf Sprint, not this race.

Informed Decision (14-1) goes for the Filly & Mare Sprint.

In Summation (16-1) has been retired.

BC Dirt Mile:

Capt. Candyman Can
(8-1) has been confirmed for the Sprint.

Vineyard Haven (10-1) unlikely to run on syntethics, being trained for the Cigar Mile at Aqueduct.

Pyro (10-1). See under Sprint

Rail Trip (12-1) is being pointed at the Classic.

Well Armed (12-1) is out with injury (see under Classic).

BC Ladies Classic:

(5/6) is a worthy fav., but could go for the Classic.

Magical Fantasy (16-1) is more likely for Filly & Mare Turf.

BC Juvenile Fillies:

Mi Sueno
(11-2) is out with injury, not going to the Breeders’ Cup.

Hot Dixie Chic (5-1) will not run again this year, trainer states.

BC Filly & Mare Turf

Gotta Have Her (20-1) will not run here, confirmed for Turf Sprint.
